Porsche’s design arm has drawn up a 115ft superyacht

A criticism often leveled at Porsche is that all of its cars look a little bit alike. If that’s an opinion you have, then it may be a bit of a surprise to learn how broad Studio F.A. Porsche is. That’s the brand’s industrial and product design arm, formerly known as Porsche Design.

The studio's done everything from watches to sunglasses to running shoes to cutlery and external hard drives. Yep, slapping some Porsche Design wording onto your computer accessories will add another third to the price, obviously. Now the design bods have picked up their Porsche pens to create something a little bigger scale. The GTT 115 Superyacht, to be precise. 

At 35 metres long and powered by two 1,650bhp MAN V12 diesel engine paired to Fortjes pod-drives, the Superyacht kicks out a top speed of 21 knots with a range of 3,400 nautical miles. It’s been built with the help of Monaco-based shipbuilder Dynamiq.

The design studio, unable to resist itself, says the yacht’s “fluid lines, side contours and balanced proportions recall the drop-shaped, overstretched surfaces of the 911”, with its interior fittings inspired by the Mission E Brown concept.

Naturally the cabin is swathed in wood flooring, luxury leathers and futuristic finishes, and can be specced to whatever style floats your boat – as long as you’re a “sophisticated customer”, in Porsche’s words.

Only seven have been built at the bargain price of $16.7million a pop. That’s £12millon in sterling, or 125 examples of the 911 Carrera GTS. Start saving those pennies.
