Watch ATV-based car things go wild

Published: 25 Jul 2012

Ever wondered what would happen if Ken Block beamed into Disney's Cars dimension? No, us neither, but an American company called Formula Cross did. Though this bonkers little thing isn't actually a car, it's an ATV (or quad bike, if you're of a certain age) called a Yamaha YFZ 450 with an, erm, "familiar" plastic bodyshell.

It's been modified by Formula Cross, which is hoping to create an entry-level motorsport series that's more accessible - and a bit less hurty - than karting.

The vehicles, named YFC 450s, have a tubular, ride-height adjustable chassis, a roll cage, sequential hand shift, 12 inches of suspension travel, disc brakes, and 224.5kgs of mass. Which sounds like a lot of fun. Looks it too.

Now click below and watch the video. There's no word on pricing, but order books are opening in autumn this year.

Anybody else feel a bit SHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY?
