Video: watch two minutes of excellent drifting

Turns out, the small, near indestructible GoPro action cam is quite useful at covering off every single angle of the sideways smoke show known as Formula Drift.

Formula Drift – Formula D, if you're trendy – is America’s premiere sideways championship. Tanner Foust, a two-time Formula D champion, told us as much last year. 

Where drifting used to be grass roots and full of ratty old E30s hammering around car parks, Formula D helped give the motorsport added sparkle and pizzazz.

It's an excellent series, and just like the Global Rallycross round-up we showed you earlier, GoPro’s editors have trawled through a whole season of Formula D footage to pick out the best drifts, crashes and fiery moments from a year of killing tyres.

Thanks to some amazing camera angles, you can see how close these high-speed sideways machines get to each other. Sometimes too close. As in, ‘hello, I appear to have driven into your passenger footwell’ close. Still, it makes for an amazing video. Check it out above.
