Vettel dreams of a Ferrari drive

Published: 17 Feb 2011

Sebastian Vettel has admitted he would jump at the chance to drive for the Ferrari F1 team.

Speaking to Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport, the young German said "to have your name written among the names of world champions is special, but having it in the list of the Ferrari drivers would be special too".

Vettel said it was his ‘dream' to race for Maranello one day, but is happy with his current team, who won last year's Constructor's Championship.

When asked who he would race for if it wasn't for Red Bull, he jokingly said, "I would probably offer Alonso and Massa a vacation".

His boss, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, was relaxed about his driver's comments.

He said: "The Italians get very excited when world champions talk about Ferrari. One of the things we encourage is freedom of expression. He's hopefully got a long future ahead of him, but for the foreseeable future he is very much committed to Red Bull."
