Porsche has won the 2015 WEC constructors’ title

Another weekend, another title in the bag. Porsche has claimed the 2015 WEC constructors’ title after taking victory in Shanghai.

Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley – driving the near-1000bhp Porsche 919 – won the six-hour endurance race in China on Sunday, which helped make Porsche’s lead at the top of the constructors’ table unassailable, with one race remaining.

And that means a thirteenth endurance racing title for Porsche, the marque having won twelve titles between 1964 and 1986 in the old Sports Car World Championship.

More than that, it continues the 919’s winning streak. You might recall that in June this year, Porsche managed a one-two finish at the Le Mans 24hr race, to record its seventeenth overall victory. It’s still the manufacturer to beat at the famous French circuit, with the most overall wins, despite a lengthy recent absence its LMP1 class.

With one race left to go in this year’s WEC season – Bahrain, 21 November – the drivers’ title is still up for grabs, with Audi's trio of Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler close enough to stay in contention. Who’s your money on?
