Jaguar claimed to be considering Formula E entry
Sky News reports JLR is prepping an all-electric racer and electric road car too
Is Jaguar preparing a Formula E racer? According to a new report that has surfaced online, it would seem so.
Sky News has apparently learned that Jaguar will very soon announce its intention to run in Formula E – the all-electric motorsport series – that previews a commitment to building an all-electric road-going production car.
It is understood Jaguar’s entry into Formula E is still being ratified by the FIA, though should they enter, the company will likely partner with Williams Advanced Engineering.
Williams, don’t forget, currently manufacture and supply the batteries for the grid, and worked with Jaguar on the astonishing C-X75 hybrid hypercar that featured in the latest James Bond movie Spectre.
Of course, an entry into Formula E would mean Jaguar returning to motorsport since leaving Formula One in 2004, and the company would join up with other entries from Audi, Renault and Peugeot. Jaguar don’t forget, also has a long, storied history in motorsport, including those lovely Le Mans entries from the 1950s and 1960s.
We’ll have more news for you as soon as it drops. In the meantime, tell us which motorsport you’d like to see Jaguar in: Formula E, Formula One, Le Mans…
