Is this the world's fastest coupe?

Published: 11 Nov 2010

This is the G-Power M6 Hurricane RR; an 800bhp modified street weapon capable of a 231mph top speed.

Its wicked, iniquitous and downright evil creators trumpet it as 'the world's fastest four-seat coupe'. We're not ones to eat the saccharine donuts PR people are feeding us without looking at the fat content, so after an exhaustive, five-minute-long search on a computer, we have concluded G-Power is wrong. Sort of.

How could this be? After all, the M6 Hurricane RR packs a twin-supercharged 5.0-litre BMW V10 engine - now defunct, of course - packing 800 mercilessly tortured horses and 590lb ft of torque. It'll hit 62mph in 4.3 seconds, 124mph in 9.5 and 186mph in 24.9.

It comes with 20-inch forged alloy wheels, a high-performance braking system, G-Power coilover suspension (9-way adjustable) and some carbon-fibre tat inside.

Now, G-Power reckons this M6 will hit 231mph - the same as the M5 Hurricane RR - and at first glance, this seems untouchable. But earlier this year, Brabus revealed its E-Class V12 Coupe, a twin-turbo 788bhp monster capable 'of reaching speeds in excess of 230mph'. Now, if that 'in excess of' is just 2mph, G-Power is wrong and the Brabus E V12 is the fastest four-seater on earth.

Difficult to judge, no? Whoever wins though, they're both biblically quick and quite tasteless. Also, the Hurricane RR costs £48k plus an M6, while the Brabus weighs in at a wallet-shredding £408,000. Your opinion, please...
