What do you make of the new BMW M3 Touring's weird M Performance exhaust?

Just last month we were given our first look of the new BMW M3 Touring at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. At the same time, BMW also showed off its new M Performance Parts with the help of the new MotoGP safety car.

Now we’re seeing the road-going carbon bits properly for the first time, and it’s fair to say they’ll split opinion.

The M Performance exhaust system is the same as the one that can be had on the saloon-bodied M3. It’s made from titanium and BMW reckons it’s 30 per cent lighter than the standard setup. Sounds great, if you can get around the triangle-style look.

There’s added height-adjustable M Performance sport suspension too, plus fancy M brake pads and the option of two different forged wheels.

Most of the exterior bits are made from carbon fibre or CFRP, with an M Performance front splitter, M Performance ‘flics’ on the front bumper, M Performance air breathers and an M Performance rear diffuser. Have we said M Performance enough yet?

There’s a new roof spoiler and rear winglets too, as well as new mirror caps and a whole heap of M-badged Alcantara-clad interior parts.
