Want a right-hand drive Cadillac Escalade V8? That’ll be £157k, please
You’ll get the Platinum edition in return, with all of 420bhp and enough tech to shame the Starship Enterprise
UAE-based Global Conversions has now extended its offerings for the right-hand drive market with the 2023 Cadillac Escalade, which, if you were to import it to the UK, would require an entire car park to store it and an acknowledgement that you’ll never be able to drive it in any small town across the land.
But should you choose to ignore our warnings and proceed to scrape through every bollard in town, you’ll be seen alright. And heard, since it’s got an amply-sized 6.2-litre V8 which sends 420bhp and 460lb ft of torque to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
This grunt is used to ferry about a near-three-tonne shell that’s 212 inches in length, 81 in width and 77 in height. Safe to say, it’s comparable in size to Westminster Abbey. But it does have some interesting styling traits to it, including 22in 12-spoke alloys and a fairly menacing Dark Android paint scheme.
Expectedly, the dimensions also translate into a cabin that’s about as copious as the average dining room in an abandoned 15th-century castle. But unlike most castles, this one’s fitted with 16.9in OLED screen, a 36-speaker audio system and about three million ports for charging.
This tech is then stitched together with much carpeting and leather, and since this is the Platinum edition, there’s fancier trim around the touchpoints and surfaces. Oh, there’s also a fridge wedged beneath the central reservation, but sadly no butler to serve you a five-course meal.
Pricing for the vehicle, conversion and importation sits at around £157,000 in total, which is comparable to that of the Aston Martin DBX.
