Special edition Rangie costs £120k

Published: 09 Feb 2011

The most expensive and ‘most luxurious' Range Rover in history has been revealed, and it is this, the Range Rover Autobiography ‘Ultimate Edition'.

This top-of-the-top-of-the-range Rangie gets the option of two V8 engines - a 510bhp 5.0-litre supercharged petrol (0-62mph in 5.9 secs) or a 4.4-litre diesel with 309bhp, 516lb ft of torque and, if you're careful, 30.1mpg.

The innards have been handcrafted from specially selected ‘soft-feel' leathers, Kalahari wood veneers adorn the facia and door top rolls, and you only get two stand-alone electric rear seats. Oh, it comes with two free Apple iPads as standard, a laptop table machined from aluminium and a drinks chiller.

The boot is lined in teak a-la big pimpin' yacht style, while wheels come in 20-inch multi-spoke diamond-turned flavour.

Just 500 units will be produced for 20 markets spanning Earth. Prices still have to be confirmed, but Land Rover told us they will sit somewhere north of £120,000. A veritable bargain when you consider the guns and booze-heavy £140,000 Holland & Holland Overfinch Range Rover, itself touted as the most exclusive Rangie permissible.
