Modellista adds even more off-road steel to newly announced Toyota Land Cruiser 70
Included in the £5k aftermarket package is beefed-up bodywork and minor cabin garnishes
With news breaking yesterday of Toyota’s intent to restore the Land Cruiser 70 to its Japanese lineup, its Modellista sub-brand has revealed an aftermarket makeover for the off-roader with some parts sourced from fellow Japanese brand, Jaos. Talk about quick reactions.
The front bumper has been given more protection, while the new vertical two-section light bars complement the now yellow-tinted fog lights. Because yellow fogs are always better. Protective aluminium skid plates can also be added to the front and rear bumpers.
Revised 18in Modellista-designed alloys are present, ditching the standard silver paint in favour of a bronzed finish. All-terrain Geolander tyres from Yokohama are the rubber of choice, while an uber-cool roof rack will also be provided. Yep, this is turning into the perfect Jurassic Park navigator. Forget the Ford Explorers.
The interior enhancements are frugal but include wood grain inserts and LED lighting. Modellista has also left the 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine untouched, so the output remains a modest 201bhp and 369lb ft of torque.
In terms of pricing, the upgrades total just under £5,300, which adds to the standard car’s starting price of around £25,700. So, it seems that’s the price you need to pay to guarantee absolute immunity from that Tyrannosaurus rex who just doesn’t understand washroom decorum.
