Meet the new Toyota Auris Estate

Published: 15 Feb 2013

You're excited, aren't you? You can feel your pulse quickening and your palms moistening as your eyes scan this page. It's the brand new Toyota Auris Estate!

Well, Toyota Auris ‘Touring Sports', to be precise, and it's the first time an estate body has come to the Auris range. This is exciting.

To be fair, this British-built Auris does boast quite a lot of luggage space, and that's kind of the point with this car: 1,658-litres with the seats folded down trumps the Golf Estate's 1,495 total load area, as well as the Focus Estate's 1,502 litres. If you're in the market for such things, this matters.

In the UK, you will be able to purchase your brand new Toyota Auris Touring Sports with either a 1.33-litre Dual VVTi or 1.6-litre petrol engine, a 1.4-litre diesel unit and a full hybrid. This last configuration matches a 1.8-litre petrol engine to an electric motor to produce 134bhp and 86g/km of CO2. We've driven the hatchback version, so can safely say: please avoid this one and plump for the diesel instead.

It sits on the same bones as the hatchback, and offers something called an ‘Easy-Flat' folding rear seat system (one-touch), a dual-level loadspace floor, shopping bag hooks and even a 12V power outlet in the boot. For recharging...things.

Design has happily fallen in line with the new hatchback too, which is a fine, sharp-looking thing. There's a panoramic roof on offer too, with piano-black finishes on the outside.

Prices have yet to be confirmed, but tell us below if you're interested (or still awake at this point).
