Lamborghini news - Give your Christmas tree some oversteer! - 2009

Published: 20 Oct 2009

It's that time of year again. That time when, unnecessarily early in the year, Lamborghini unveils its traditionally hideous collection of Christmas goodies.

In previous years we've seen some thoroughly unpleasant tat emerging from Sant'Agata - those luminous orange Christmas tree decorations will live long in the memory, despite our best attempts to erase them with alcohol, trephination and therapy - but this year is different. Oh yes.

This year Lamborghini has created a range of limited edition candles and ceramic baubles inspired by the Gallardo Balboni. Which means they're very much like conventional candles and ceramic baubles, but far more oversteery and expensive.

Where your conventional four-wheel-drive candles and baubles trade a little of their wiry-edged feedback for more predictability and safety in the wet, these Balboni mementos are genuine track specials: far pointier, more aggressive specimens only to be tackled by the genuine Yuletide specialist.

They're... OK, they're tat. Sheer, shameless tat.

Thankfully Top Gear would never stoop to such levels of brand dilution. Which is why we can highly recommend you put the Stig Draught Excluder and Richard Hammond Fridge-Freezer Combo to the top of your Christmas wish list this year...
