Subaru Legacy concept revealed
Say konichiwa to the Legacy concept, one of three design studies Subaru is rolling out this week.
The swoopy, boxer-powered four-door celebrates the Legacy's 25th anniversary, and the design's been inspired by its trademark symmetrical all-wheel drive system. So this could - could - be a rough version of the manufacturer's sixth-gen flagship.
The big news is a radically improved interior, our main gripe with the old Legacy. "The Legacy Concept's interior is one of the most high-tech ever seen in a Subaru model, Subaru tells us, "with a smartphone-style centre console and instrument panel that extends from the front to the rear of the cabin. It has a dynamic and solid design, with brown leather upholstery and blue accents throughout."
Though if any of the high-tech and soft-touch stuff makes production remains to be seen. Come to think of it, the whole of the interior remains to be seen, because Subaru's not released any pictures of it...
The company's been pretty scant on all the details, as it goes - all we know is the diameter of its wheels (21 inches), the fact it's fitted with Subaru's ‘EyeSight' tech (it monitors the road ahead and recognises potentially dangerous driving situations), and that it's got an all-wheel drivetrain.
We'll have to wait till the official unveil at the LA motor show later this week, while the Levorg (which previews the new Legacy wagon) and updated Viziv concept (first seen in Geneva and shows off future hybrid tech) are getting revealed at the Tokyo motor show.
Reckon Subaru should make the four-door Legacy? Would it look good in WRX guise?
