This £7,000 body kit for the Toyota GR Corolla is pure Need for Speed
The eight bolt-on pieces are provided by Japanese tuner Varis, and there are shiny new alloys and a selection of stickers available on request
It’s a big shame that we don’t get the Toyota GR Corolla on these shores. Partly because of how much we’ve taken to its Yaris-shaped sibling, but also because it’s been out for long enough now that the world’s tuners have got to work on them. Here’s one such example from Japan-based firm Varis...
The eight-piece kit includes new splitters all around, a brilliantly oversized rear wing and a new exhaust that replaces the standard tri-exit system with centrally mounted dual-exit pipes. Proper Need for Speed Underground stuff, this.
Varis has even thrown on bronzed six-spoke alloys and dropped the ride height by a few centimetres, while a pretty extensive selection of vinyls and stickers have been included to show the world that you do, indeed, live your life a quarter-mile at a time.
There’s no mention of any mechanical changes, so we’re assuming the turbocharged 1.6-litre three-pot continues to produce around 300bhp and 273lb ft. That’s aided by Toyota’s trusty all-wheel-drive system and torque vectoring tech, which means 0-62mph is dispatched in around five seconds. But, more importantly, results in a fairly large smile when the going gets twisty.
Anyway, the total cost for the kit (including tax but excluding the wheels) is about 1.5 million Japanese Yen - or just over £7,000. Reasonably priced, wouldn't you say?
