The new Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo edition has been teased
Design sketches preview the forthcoming, rally-inspired edition of the Skoda Fabia hatchback
The Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo has become something of a tradition, since the Czech brand decided to mark consecutive podium finishes at the eponymous rally 11 years ago.
That all started with the MkII hatchback, and now that there’s a new, fourth-generation Fabia in town it’s time for a new MC designation. Hooray!
As you can see from the design sketches above, Skoda has stuck to the tried and tested recipe of applying as much red, black and carbon-effect trim as is physically possible.
So, inside the leather trim on the steering wheel rim, handbrake and gear stick get black stitching, with red accents on the seat covers, horizontal dash trim, centre console and door handles.
Meanwhile there’s a carbon-style material on the front door armrests and on the lower part of the instrument panel. Height-adjustable sports seats and a three-spoke, multifunction steering wheel complete the look in the cabin.
As for the exterior, the grille frame, spoiler lip, diffuser and side skirts are all finished in black. Naturally there’s barely an angle that isn’t covered by a Monte Carlo badge of some description.
The real thing will be revealed in due course, following in the tyre tracks of predecessors like the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback, and joining up with current Monte Carlo edition offerings in the shape of the Scala and Kamiq.
We’d stick our hands up for a Skoda Enyaq Monte Carlo too, although the new 295bhp vRS variant is decent consolation in fairness.
