Watch McLaren's P1 LM set a Goodwood hill record
Video: sit back, turn it up and watch Batman's McLaren dance on the hill. Is scary fast
The McLaren P1 LM was one of the cars making a first appearance in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend, and it has already left a legacy. The bonkers LM broke the record for the fastest road legal car up the Goodwood hill with a time of 47.07 seconds, beating the previous record of 49.27 seconds, set by the Nissan GT-R Nismo (R35) back in 2014.
Not surprising really considering that this monster of a P1 kicks out 986bhp from the twin turbo V8 and electric motors, and has 40 per cent more downforce than the P1 GTR thanks to its modified splitter and rear wing and dive planes. And a dash of attitude, no doubt. The car really came into its own at the hands of Kenny Brack, former Indy 500 winner, achieving a speed of 135mph when crossing the finish line. All of this coming from a car with a number plate.
While the P1 LM couldn’t best Nick Heidfeld’s supernaturally fast, overall best time of 41.60 seconds in the McLaren MP4/13, it is still a time to be reckoned with. Watch the attempt in the video above, and click here for more info on the P1 LM unveiled at Goodwood.
