Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019

These special Vantages celebrate old Aston Martin racers

'Vantage Heritage Racing Editions' debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Published: 05 Jul 2019

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Aston Martin’s one-two finish at Le Mans, and the 70th anniversary of its first race at Goodwood. To that end, it’s the ‘featured marque’ at this weekend’s Festival of Speed, and has created six special-edition Vantages in colour schemes that honour race cars from the company’s past.

Sixty ‘Vantage Heritage Racing Editions’ will be built, in all, with owners offered the choice of one of the six liveries. All cars will get a new aero kit, too. Made up of a new carbon wing, dive planes and an extended front splitter, the pack (which is also available on regular Vantages) adds 194kg of downforce at 190mph.

The lime green Vantage at the very front is supposed to represent Aston’s current WEC challenger. Working our way backwards, the white car with the blue/red details is inspired by the AMR1 Group C car from 1989, while the blue/orange car alongside it pays homage to the DBR9 that won its class at Le Mans in 2007 and 2008.

As for the third row – the dark green car is modelled after a DB3S, the silver car a pre-war racer called the ‘Razor Blade’ and the red car after an Aston Martin Ulster that won its class at Le Mans in 1935.

The six special Vantages will be displayed under the big Aston sculpture at Goodwood this weekend, so if you’re there swing by and have a gander. Either way, tell us your favourite below...
