This is the punchiest Porsche Panamera estate yet

It’s the Geneva motor show next week, which traditionally brings madly tuned performance cars out in force. It’s the event where the most famous (and infamous) tuning houses go elbow to elbow in the same space.

TechArt is certainly feeling punchy, using Geneva to show off this, its GrandGT. It’s based on Porsche’s Panamera estate – the Sport Turismo – but takes all of the svelte subtlety of the production car and, well, destroys it. It’s a bold looking thing.

Much of the boldness comes with its extraordinarily wide wheel arches, the rears looking particularly pumped up. The regular Panamera Sport Turismo is hardly slender, and TechArt has decided to make absolutely sure you’ll detour around width restrictors and give more vintage multi-storey car parks a miss.

The GrandGT is lower, too, and sits on stocky 22-inch alloy wheels. That they don’t look that ridiculous gives you an idea of just how muscular the arches surrounding them are.

Then there’s the colour scheme. Green and brown is a traditionally classy colour scheme for a grand tourer, but TechArt’s managed to ensure it’s hard to miss. There’s multi-coloured stitching in the seats and the look of a wooden sideboard to the dashboard and door trims. If you’ve always wanted a study room on wheels, this is probably as close as you’ll get.

You want power? There’s some of that, too. TechArt has naturally based the GrandGT on the Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo, but given it nearly 90bhp and 100lb ft more. It now produces 631bhp and 664lb ft, knocking around half a second off the 0-62mph time, which is now 3.4secs. We’d imagine 200mph is entirely possible should you find yourself on a disused runway or empty derestricted autobahn.

Of course, TechArt can tune a Panamera entirely to your whim, so if you want the power without the bodykit – or vice versa – that’s all good. Like what you see, though?
