This is Lamborghini's Air Force-inspired Huracan

Meet the Huracan LP610-4 Avio, a 250-off edition in flying colours

Published: 02 Mar 2016

Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann bowed out of his job at Geneva with a new supercar - the utterly bonkers Centenario - which is perhaps peak-Winkelmann in its drama and vivacity.

It sat alongside this, though, another car that helps define the Winkelmann era: the special edition V10. Meet the Huracan LP610-4 Avio, a 250-off limited-run supercar that eschews extra power in favour of stripes and plaques.

Its name does not pay homage to a sub-par Chevrolet supermini, rather the aviation heritage Lamborghini is so keen to link up to.

The result is a colour range entirely named after coats of arms in the Italian Air Force Academy - Grigio Falco, Grigio Nibbio, Grigio Vulcano, Verde Turbine and the colour you see here, Ble Grifo. All come with matt stripes in contrasting white or grey.

Other additions to the spec include cruise control, GPS and the suspension lifting system, all presumably providing a mildly tenuous link to flying.

But let’s not be too cynical. It’s a matt blue Huracan, and therefore looks excellent, and even without any powertrain tweaks, it still has a 602bhp V10 sending it sonorously to 62mph in 3.2 seconds.

Deliveries start in the summer, and you can expect to pay around £200,000 for one.
