Berger drives a 1988 Ferrari at Jerez

Published: 30 Aug 2013

Here we have another teaser for the next installment of Codemasters' Formula One franchise, snappily titled, erm, F1 2013.

The video shows a virtual Gerhard Berger piloting his 1988 Ferrari F1-87/88C around a sepia-tinted Circuito de Jerez, and it's a good indicator of what we can expect from the game's much-hyped F1 Classics mode. This, if you're unaware, allows gamers to play as legendary F1 drivers from the 80s. No word yet on whether you'll be able to storm angrily down the pit lane and punch opponents, but we have our fingers firmly crossed.

1980s F1 cars from Williams and Lotus will also be available, while a special limited edition of F1 2013 - the Classic Edition - will let you race with drivers and cars from the 1990s, too.

Jerez - home of the Spanish GP until 1990, and twice host of the European GP - is one of two classic tracks in F1 2013, alongside Brands Hatch. The Classic Edition adds Imola and Estoril to the tally.

And Berger, who was once part owner of Toro Rosso, is one of a number of legendary drivers playable in F1 2013. He scored ten wins and 48 podiums in his 13 years as an F1 driver, and finished sixth in the 1988 Spanish GP in his Ferrari, only a few seconds behind fifth-placed man Ricardo Patrese.

In addition to the classic stuff, F1 2013 features every driver, car and track from this year's 2013 F1 season. It's out on 4 October.
