Gran Turismo 7’s Spec III update is here, and it cares nothing for your Christmas plans

Still got shopping to do? Tough, here’s a Fiat Panda and the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Published: 05 Dec 2025

Stressful, isn’t it, this time of year? You haven’t even started on getting anything for your mum yet. You needed to get your hair cut before that work do next week, and there’s a fun run the morning after it, and oh god, Gran Turismo 7’s just dropped a massive update.

The much hyped ‘Spec III’ update is a mix of free content and a substantial £30 DLC pack, and it’s going to do absolutely nothing for your productivity this fraught festive season. Look at this, for example: the Yas Marina and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve tracks, added for free. Thanks loads, Polyphony. Do you want to be the one to tell Ingrid from HR that she’s not getting anything in the work secret Santa this year because of your utterly selfish content-bombing?

The scent of those new track additions has drawn several new vehicles out from the undergrowth, also added for free, including Renault’s enduringly preposterous Espace F1, a Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R, a gorgeous Mine’s R34 Skyline GT-R, two new Ferraris, and our pick of the bunch – a 1985 Fiat Panda.

On the paid side, the Power Pack DLC introduces the newest and most Skynet version of Polyphony’s Sophy AI, which powers offline opponents to drive convincingly like humans but without the rude messages in your inbox afterwards. It adds a huge stack of new events, which follow a practice-quali-race format and add a more motorsports-focused raft of races to the roster.

You can read the full rundown of new stuff over at the PlayStation blog, which also has some choice photography of the new cars, but which doesn’t apologise once for derailing your December schedule like this. Tsk. Thoughtless.
