Want a Land Rover-inspired, unkillable phone?

We’ve all been there: you’re in the wilds of British Columbia, grabbing a #wanderlust snap, and you drop your iPhone in the frigid meltwater of the Athabasca Glacier, killing it like Kanye West killed popular music.

We literally can’t count how often that’s happened to us. But never fear! Land Rover has solved the problem that we’ve all faced at some point in our lives, offering a £599 phone that’s basically the Tonka truck of phones. Oh, er… we mean the Land Rover of phones. Yeah.

To be fair, it actually seems like quite a rugged little beast – it’ll survive being submerged in up to 1.8 metres of water, even if it’s salty.

The phone will also take quite a bit of abject treatment, such as “blistering heat, thermal shock, intense humidity and vibration exposure”. Translation: treat it how you feel; it’ll keep on keeping on. No, really – it’s dust-proof, drop-proof from 1.8 metres and, as we mentioned, quite water-tight.

It’ll also keep on chugging away far longer than anything those urbanites taking artful shots of lattes and smashed avocado can expect from their city-slicker phones; where you can expect about a day from your Android/iOS/Windows Phone (just kidding, no one uses Windows Phone) device, you can get “two full days with the screen on constantly.” Oh, and you can use the screen with gloves on, thanks to a special witchcraft-enabled touchscreen.

There’s an optional Adventure Pack, which boosts the accuracy of the GPS signal, using an aerial of some description to help triangulate your position better, as well as including a Thermoplastic Polyurethane (i.e. fancy, mostly indestructible plastic) case and a spare 3500mAh battery, in case the 4000mAh is still not enough.

For the true adventurer, there’s specific mapping, weather, tide and topographical applications, as well as two SIM card slots, in case your adventures even – shock and/or horror – take you out of 4G range and back to the wild days of GSM.

And, best of all, it’s the perfect complement for your rugged beard. Because, as we all know, it’s impossible to adventure without face foliage.
