Your Kia Stinger can now have a rear wing
Mild update for standard Stingers, but plenty of newly sporty option packs
It’s a new Kia Stinger! Well, it’s a mildly updated Kia Stinger. Always the sign of a pretty solid car when its mid-life facelift is this subtle.
On the outside, the head and taillights get a wealth of extra LEDS, with a ‘chequered flag’ indicator pattern at the back. Which sounds a little incongruous, given Kia is bigging up the Stinger’s long-distance abilities. You also get the option of some black styling packs for a bit of extra assertion.
“Buyers of more powerful examples of the Stinger now have the option to specify larger wide-bore bright silver exhaust mufflers,” we’re told, “with a more purposeful, performance-inspired rear diffuser to give the car a more muscular rear appearance.” Americans even get the option of a rear wing. Crikey.
Inside, there’s a fully digital instrument display, a new 10in infotainment setup and a 64-colour mood lighting system. You also get the option of Nappa leather, as well as ‘chain-pattern’ contrast stitching so your seats can mimic your watch strap.
Ignore all of those extra fripperies, though, and the Stinger ought to stay a big-hearted and properly leftfield alternative to a BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 or, um, Ford Mustang. Would you?
