The new 186mph Audi RS5 Performance Edition is the fastest ever RS5
A bump to 464bhp means 0-62mph is dispatched in just 3.7s and on to a higher derestricted top speed
Audi is creating a special ‘Performance Edition’ version of its RS5 Sportback, which boasts more power, improved steering and a higher top speed, all of which culminate to make this the fastest RS5 yet. It should also help Britain’s athletes prepare for this summer’s Tailgating Olympics.
For starters, the 2.9-litre Biturbo V6 has been given another 20bhp to bring the new total to 464bhp. As a result, the 0-62mph sprint has been cut down by two tenths to 3.7s, while Audi has also removed the limiter and upped the top speed by 12mph to a new headline figure of 186mph.
Brute force hasn’t been the sole area of focus for the Performance Edition, with Audi throwing on its RS Sport Pro suspension and an improved Torsen limited-slip differential to combat the newfound power with even more grip.
Of the 250 units that are set to ply their trade in Europe’s outside lanes, just 10 will be coming to Britain. Tempted? You’ll also need at least £109,000 to secure a spot when the order book opens in June. Good luck, Olympians.
