Kia’s compact EV3 will land later this month to target the Volvo EX30
Rumoured to cost around £30k, the replacement for the Soul EV should feature battery and powertrain improvements
Kia will look to expand its all-electric portfolio with a more compact solution over the next few months, and it’s called… the ‘EV3’. Who could’ve possibly seen that coming?
It will target the sub-thirty grand mini crossover market, building on the foundations set by its pre-existing siblings such as the handsome EV6 and the behemoth seven-seat EV9.
Since it’s replacing the Soul EV, we expect it to play host to an improved version of its predecessor’s 64kWh battery and resultant 280-mile range. Equally, the 201bhp output should be wound up, with a choice of single and dual motors likely to be offered.
Away from the ifs, buts and maybes, Kia has also mentioned that the production car will look very similar - both internally and externally - to the conceptual images presented last winter. And now, we’ve got a few more extremely revealing images that confirm the EV3 will look… like the concept.
The few differences we can spot include a sharper descending section within the twin-pronged front headlamps, a mild redesign with the rear signatures, and a bit more definition to the spoiler. Still, if Kia’s recent design language is anything to go by, it should carry the good genes over from the rest of the lineup.
The full unveiling will happen later this month before the EV3’s order book opens soon after.
