This is Ken Block’s 650bhp, Gymkhana 8 Fiesta

Block’s new vid lands next week, with a Ford decked out in reflective livery

Published: 23 Feb 2016

Next week, the Internet will be treated to the latest instalment of Ken Block’s Gymkhana series. It is the eighth one, you’ll no doubt recall, and is therefore called Gymkhana Eight.

And here’s your first look at the car that will star in the film: a modified Ford Fiesta with more horsepower than a Lamborghini Huracán, and a rather neat livery.

The inclusion of the Fiesta means no more ‘Hoonicorn’, which is a shame. TG is a big fan of Ken’s 6.7-litre, NASCAR-engined Mustang, modified to a whopping 845bhp and featuring four-wheel-drive.

The Ford, though, packs a Herculean punch. It’s a Fiesta ST RX43, packing 650bhp from an inline, turbocharged four-cylinder engine powering all four wheels. Just, y’know, expect the thing to be pointing in all of the directions, surrounded by much smoke.

The livery too, is rather excellent. It’s a reflective, black-on-black number that changes depending on the angle at which you view the car, as well as changing when the light hits it.

“Gymkhana Eight is definitely one of my favourite projects that we’ve done so far,” explains Ken. The Fiesta’s new tyres will also help Block’s mission for “smoky, sideways driving”. His usual stuff, then.
