The Ioniq 5 N ‘DK Edition’ is a bewinged homage to the godfather of drifting

... but it's only available in Japan and Korea. Darn it

Published: 13 Jan 2025

Want a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N specced by a master of drifting? This is the ‘DK Edition’: an aero-focused take on Hyundai’s all-electric hyper-hatch. And yes, DK is an acronym for ‘Drift King’… just not that bratty villain from Fast and Furious.

It pays homage to Keiichi Tsuchiya, widely regarded as one of the drift world's most influential figures. He also served as a consultant for the Initial D anime series, so he knows a thing or two about slinging metal at awkward angles.

As such, the DK Edition features several modifications he felt would better the standard 5 N. Those include stronger six-piston calipers wearing performance pads - hiding behind dandy new 21in forged alloys - and a new set of lowering springs that drop the car by a further 15mm.

There's an aero kit too, that includes a new carbon splitter, diffuser, rear wing and side skirts, helping generate an extra 93kg of downforce. It's been decked out in a white coat accentuated with red stripes, and looks like a very serious bit of kit... built to do entirely unserious things.

Hyundai hasn't noted any powertrain mods, so you're still looking at the scary end of a dual-motor setup good for 641bhp and 0-62mph in 3.4s with the boost mode engaged.

Ready for the bad news? The DK Edition is only available in Japan and Korea when it launches later this year. Perhaps a DM to the real DK could change that.
