Here’s your first look at Morgan’s new six-cylinder sports car
Brit prototype packs a BMW straight-six and a new aluminium platform
This is the new top dog Morgan. It is not, according to Morgan, a replacement for the top dog Plus Six which it stopped carving out last November, but it will be the company’s new flagship when it arrives… later.
We do not know how much later. So let us digest what we do know so far. This new, as-yet-unnamed Morgan will pack a version of BMW’s turbocharged straight-six currently doing lovely service in the Z4 and Supra.
It will feature “a range of new technical features and engineering enhancements throughout”, bundled into Morgan’s new CXV platform; an evolution of its bonded aluminium platform that’s both lighter and stiffer than the outgoing Plus Six.
Morgan reckons the new car will offer “greater dynamic performance and driving enjoyment”. Considering the old Six was really rather good, the recipe sounds exciting.
Don’t get too excited by these initial pics, though, because Morgan says they’re not indicative of the production car’s final design. But it’s probably pretty close. And, well, yeah it looks like a Morgan should look, with a form shaped and ‘informed’ by aero.
We’ll inform you as soon as we hear more.
