Americans! A special Alfa 4C Spider is coming your way

Yes, Alfa Romeo still makes the flawed but pretty 4C. 15 special cars for the US

Published: 08 Feb 2019

Yes, you’re absolutely right: Alfa Romeo still makes the 4C. And this is a very special one, headed only for the North American market, and limited to just 15 cars.

Fifteen. You’d have thought such rarity would entail something pretty banzai, but alas, it is a mere paint and logo special. Like literally, paint and a few logos. That's it. But, pretty it remains.

The 4C Spider is painted in an exclusive ‘Misano Blue’ metallic paint that’s not available on other, lesser 4Cs (though is available on the ace Giulia Veloce), and gets a black front air intake and rear diffuser. Then come the logos and graphics: ‘4C Spider Italia’ graphics on the outside, and an aluminium dash insert with a ‘4C Spider Italia’ logo on the inside.

That, dear readers, is your lot. No more power. No suspension tweakery. So it’s the same 1.75-litre turbo four-pot, producing 237bhp and 258lb ft of torque, and 0-60mph in 4.1secs.

We’re told this special Alfa will cost $5k over the base car’s US price, which for some fancy paint and a few logos is probably stretching the definition of exclusive. In other news, the 4C Spider will live on for another year in the States, Alfa confirming its 2020 model run. Happy?
