The 1,000bhp V8-powered, two-million quid Naran hypercar will debut this month
The world’s latest (ambitious) hypercar maker will soon touch base. Here’s what we know so far
Remember the Naran prototype hypercar? We reported on the four-seat, GT3-inspired British hypercoupe almost four years ago, and have heard little since. Well, it’s back, and all set for its global debut at Salon Privé at the end of this month.
The angry face and broad shoulders - which we’ll touch on in a moment - will be pinned down by a huge 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 1,000bhp and around 764lb ft of torque. It’s also previously been rumoured that a 2.3s sprint to 62mph and a Vmax of over 230mph will be the target, potentially making it a direct competitor to the forthcoming Nilu27 hypercar. Anyone else smell a heavyweight bout on the horizon?
About those shoulders. The design's been dreamt up by a chap called Jowyn Wong - who also pencilled in the Apollo IE and the De Tomaso P72. Not a bad portfolio, that. Wong’s gone to town on the Naran too: just look at those SF90-like headlights, the wafer-thin Bugatti Chiron-esque rear bar, the split exhaust pipes and that body kit. Looks fresh out of Dominic Toretto’s school for exotica.
It’s more of the same fancy schmancy approach inside too, with billet aluminium and soft-touch leather aplenty. The colour schemes are also going to be a big draw here (apparently), with the launch editions adopting a mix of almond gold accents and ruby-clad textiles. Yep, it sounds like the Naran’s going to mimic the inside of an Arabian prince’s lounge.
Just 39 build slots have been announced, with each unit set to cost interested parties around two million quid.
