With lines inspired by Ferrari's finest, the Velozzi is an American project designed to enter the Alternative X-Prize competition for alternative fuel vehicles.

To qualify for this, the 200mph Velozzi uses electric motors driving through an F1-style gearbox.

Lightweight materials keep the weight down to counter the heft of the batteries and help the Velozzi achieve 0-60mph in less than 3.0 seconds.

The company says its supercar is there to showcase its technology to the world's car manufacturers and there are no firm plans to put the Velozzi into production.
