The Polestar 3 will cost from £78,900 in the UK

We were expecting some Polestar 3 news early this autumn, but not this early: prices and performance details for the brand’s “SUV for the electric age” have leaked online. Get ready for some large digits.

The Polestar 3 will be offered in two states of tune, starting with a 483bhp entry-level model that’ll cover 0-62mph in five seconds flat courtesy of 620lb ft of torque. Then there’s a 510bhp version upping that to 671lb ft and dropping the headline sprint to 4.7 seconds. Yikes.

A 111kWh battery (107kWh usable) is standard, allowing the base-spec model to travel 380 miles on a single charge and the range-topping variant a still-very-handy 348 miles.

Meanwhile peak charging is capped at 250kW, which means suitably equipped service stations will have your cells back up from 10 to 80 per cent full in as little as half an hour.

In both cases you’re looking at a top speed of 130mph, while the boot measures 484 litres with the seats up. So now you know.

And those all-important prices? The longer-range Polestar 3 carries a tag of £78,900, while the quicker one will set you back £84,500. That puts it in the same league as the Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, BMW iX, and any other very large, very premium SUV you care to mention, electric powertrain or not.
