Maserati has confirmed the all-electric MC20 Folgore will arrive in 2025
Back in 2020 Maserati promised us this would be a tri-motor, 700bhp+ supercar. We can’t wait…
Maserati has announced that its all-electric MC20 Folgore will finally arrive next year. Big news in the small world of EV supercars.
In a recent statement, Maserati confirmed the GranCabrio Folgore will launch this year, followed by the MC20 Folgore in 2025. A while back, the MC20’s ‘model responsible’, Luigi Sciarretta, told TG the electric MC20 would use three electric motors to send over 700bhp to all four wheels. Whether that means it’ll have the same setup as the GranTurismo Folgore (which makes 750bhp) remains to be seen, but we were promised 0-62mph in two seconds and a maximum of 100kg in extra weight over the petrol car.
Impressive. But then again, we were also promised that it would arrive by 2022...
Anyway, elsewhere in Maser's plan, a new all-electric large SUV (presumably based on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform) will arrive in 2027 and an electric Quattroporte in 2028. Hurrah, the four-door lives on!
“Driven by our Modena heart, we are going full throttle to lead change on electrification, with two of our iconic models already available for purchase in their 100 per cent electric versions, and another on the way this year,” said Maserati boss Davide Grasso.
“We will offer our preferred customers the most powerful Maseratis ever, pushing the boundaries of driving pleasure to a new era. With our long-term strategic vision and plan, we want to make a mark in the luxury world with unique Italian manufacturing excellence, constantly pushing distinctive quality and building our future with a dedicated business model that guarantees our customers the best products that reflect the Trident’s values.”
Sounds like a busy few years ahead for everyone at Maserati, then. Of course, as part of Stellantis’ ‘Dare Forward 2030’ plan we know the Modena firm will need to be EV-only in Europe by 2030, with 50 per cent of its sales in the US electric too.
