Aehra follows swoopy, luxury SUV with swoopy, luxury Sedan

Italian start-up reveals saloon created by ex-Lambo designer Filippo Perini. Can you spot the influence?

Published: 16 Jun 2023

Only seven months have passed since new Italian car brand Aehra revealed its debut electric SUV, and as promised it has backed it up with this here Sedan.

And before you get all ‘Ugh, it’s a saloon actually’, Sedan is the car’s name. At least for now. It sits on the same platform as the SUV, and both vehicles have been set a target range just shy of 500 miles. Jeepers.

So those swoopy lines are functional as well as pretty, intended to slip through the air as efficiently as possible. All while dishing out plenty of Aventador deja vu.

That’s because it’s the work of Filippo Perini, he of former Lamborghini fame and whose CV also includes the Alfa Romeo Spider and Italdesign Zerouno.

“With the AEHRA Sedan, we have had the boldness to go even further and fully exploit the exceptional design freedom born out of our founder Hazim Nada’s philosophy and vision, and AEHRA’s ground-breaking use of only the most advanced technologies that the global automotive and aeronautic industries have to offer,” he explains.

“The design of the AEHRA Sedan is inspired by numerous sources. In Italy, it is often said we exist in a living museum. The influence of art and architecture is all around us, and beauty is all around us. A beauty that stems from purity of expression and aesthetic functionality.

“For centuries, Italian architects, artists and designers have been inspired by the pursuit of the perfection of proportion. That passion and discipline are evident in every line and detail of the AEHRA Sedan. Adhering to AEHRA’s doctrine that form must always follow function; the Sedan is the antithesis to baroque design culture. Devoid of unnecessary adornments, yet alive with emotion, the AEHRA Sedan represents a new standard of natural beauty for zero-emission ultra-premium mobility.”

*Nods along sagely*. Uncovered today at the Milano Monza Motor Show, the Sedan features active aero and cooling, sustainable composite materials (including forged carbon fibre, but of course), and like the SUV it gets double falcon doors.

“The first customer deliveries of the AEHRA Sedan and AEHRA SUV will commence by 2026,” confirmed co-founder, chairman and CEO Hazim Nada. “And when the final production variants take to the road, they will look virtually identical to the models we have revealed, ensuring no compromise on our promise to combine an extraordinary driving and ownership experience with exceptional design and technology.”
