Citroen DS4 revealed

Published: 31 Aug 2010

If you thought the new Citroen C4 was awfully staid, here is the bubbly, fun-loving high-fiving sibling: the new DS4.

A taller, wider and squatter version of the C4, the new DS4 is a funky five-door which picks up the zesty baton from the fizzy DS3.

Sticking closely to the looks of the High Rider concept we saw a while ago, the DS4 certainly looks distinctive - that aggressive face reminiscent of the Revolte concept, chrome detailing, a buxom rear and ‘taut' roofline tapering into a spoiler.

This premium air of ‘I-am-cooler-than-thou' extends inside too, with chrome-detailing, high-quality materials and a panoramic windscreen offering up to 45 degrees of upward vision. The seats are offered with a massaging function and there's even a range of polyphonic sounds to choose from (including something called ‘Jungle Fantasy').

You also get aluminium pedals, ambient lighting and five leather combinations to complete your very own disco-chic boudoir.

The DS4 will be launched with five engines - two HDi diesels (110 and 160bhp), and three petrols, which consist of a VTi 120, THP 155 and the 1.6-litre THP 200, jointly developed with BMW.

There is some practicality to match the nightclub looks - Citroen tells us you get three ‘full size rear seats' and 370-litres of boot-space, along with loads of cubby holes and storage areas to lose your Red Bulls in.

The DS4 will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show, so we'll update with more details. Whaddya think?
