Land Rover reveals Xtech special
Defenders. Butch sort of things, aren't they? Not butch enough according to Land Rover, which has systematically smeared on some big, hairy Chuck Norris-grade MACHO to its 90 hard top and 110 utility wagon.
These special editions are called the XTechs, and they've been lovingly tailored to adventure enthusiasts with the addition of unique Orkney Grey or Nara Bronze paint, Santorini Black roof, headlight surrounds, wheel arches and black chequer plate along the bumper and sills.
There's also gets a special ‘DEFENDER' decal above the rear LED lights, a body colour grille, gloss black Land Rover lettering on the bonnet, a rear step, gloss black "Saw Tooth" 16-inch alloys and MTR off-road tyres. Inside you'll find part-leather ebony seats with the Land Rover logo embossed on the front headrests and carpet mats with woven Defender logos inside. The central switch panel also gets finished in body colour. Woof.
All that manliness is offset with some creature comforts, including air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, traction control, remote central locking and heated seats and windscreen.
All the XTechs get a 2.2-litre lump with a six-speed manual ‘box, which grinds out 360Nm of slightly unpleasant, diesely torque.
They cost £27,995. Would you pay £3740 over list price for all this extra Butch, TopGear.commers?
