It's Hennessey's bonkers Jag F-Type
We’re big fans of the Jaguar F-Type, but we’re happy to admit that it’s quite unchained in its pokiest V8 R form.
Try telling Hennessey Performance that, though. The maker of the Veyron-slaying Venom has got its hands on an F-Type R Coupe, decided it’s a little lacking in firepower, and turned things up a notch.
That grumbly 5.0-litre V8 engine has had its supercharger upgraded, there’s improved cooling, and the software has been tweaked.
The result? Standard 542bhp and 502lb ft outputs climb to 623bhp and 568lb ft, numbers which should make the Ferrari 458 Speciale and Lamborghini Huracan blush, and make hedges around the globe very, very concerned.
The result of Hennessey’s 15 per cent power increase is a 3.5sec 0-60mph time – over half a second less than Jaguar claims for the stock car – and an 11.4sec quarter-mile time, the car hitting 126mph as it crosses the line. We imagine it will show little regard for Jag's 186mph electronic limiter, too.
You can see the run – plus some extremely artful electronic spoiler action – in Hennessey’s video above. And with the upgrade offered for 5.0-litre V8 models, it’s your chance to make the already bonkers Project 7 sillier still. One for the braver among you...
