Audi A6 news - Audi A6 allroad enters the fray - 2006

Published: 03 Apr 2006

Audi just can't launch new cars quickly enough at the moment and the latest model confirmed for UK buyers is the A6 allroad.

If you get your cash down now, you can expect delivery in July, but you will need £33,530 for the 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel model 177bhp, or bump that up to £36,380 for the 230bhp 3.0 V6 diesel.

To begin with, there will only be the diesels on offer, with 3.2 V6 and 4.2 V8 petrol units expected in early 2007.

The diesels will only be available with six-speed automatic gearboxes at first, but six-speeder manuals are on the way for September.

Four-wheel drive is standard, naturally, and the allroad claims proper off-roading ability, thanks to maximum ground clearance of 185mm.

The height-adjustable air suspension has five different settings for varying conditions, while a new electronic stability programme aims to provide more traction in the dirt.

Perhaps more pertinent is the allroad's huge load capacity and identical passenger space to the A6 Avant, although rufty tufty types will appreciate the bold grille and chunky body kit to mark this model out as an off-roader.
