Buying
What should I be paying?
Initially, you’re going to be paying a lot. Only the flagship Ultra spec is available, and with the top two power levels, which means you’re either paying £96,255 for the 402bhp version, or £100,555 if you simply must have 510bhp. Volvo lease deals are available on both at either £1,399 or £1,469 a month. If we dwell on our favourite, the non-Performance, a PCP over four years with 10,000 miles per annum will cost £1,431 a month. The extra 108bhp will cost you another £60.
In time we expect to see two lower tiers of spec, and at least one single-motor version. The eventual base model should start at under £75,000. We’d expect it to arrive in late 2025. Volvo happily admits that early ordering has gone well, with seven-to-nine-month wait times quoted. And if it continues to go well Volvo will have less incentive to get cheaper versions on sale sooner.
Ultra spec comes fully loaded and includes a mighty impressive 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins hifi, pano roof, Pixel LED lights, air suspension, soft close doors and 22-inch wheels. Options on that are pretty thin, but the accessories catalogue is fat: everything from child seats to bike carriers, dog guards to running boards.
