Vauxhall Crossland review
Buying
What should I be paying?
All Crosslands get air conditioning, cruise control, LED headlights and a 7in touchscreen with CarPlay/Android Auto. Base ‘SE’ spec cars creep in at just shy of £20,000, but you’ll want to spend a little more than that to get, for example, the split/sliding rear seats, split-level boot floor and comfier front seats.
‘SRi Nav’ looks like a decent bet. It’s new for the facelift, gets all the kit you want and looks the part with decent alloys, a contrast roof and the brightly-coloured interior trim we talked about earlier. It’s £22,590 with the good engine.
The auto gearbox is available only with the most powerful petrol and diesel engines. The price premium depends on spec, but can be over £2,000. Moreover auto cars are less economical and emit more CO2.
MPG ranges from mid-forties to low-sixties, and CO2 from 120 to 139. Unless you buy the little diesel you’re looking at £215 for your first year’s VED. Businesspeople, BiK is between 27 and 30 per cent. There is no plug-in hybrid version to game the system.
