Driving
What is it like to drive?
If you value travelling in quiet and comfort with super-high quality construction over hitting apexes and surging acceleration, this is the crossover for you. It doesn’t so much drive as glide along, gathering pace more than accelerating.
There is very little in the way of steering feel, but its accuracy is on point. You sit high, there’s plenty of – acoustically insulated – glass to add light and vision to all seats, which are multi-hour comfortable. If you push the RX outside of its comfort level it folds into understeer pretty quickly and stays there until you back off.
The F Sport pack with its selectable drive modes and adaptive variable suspension (AVS) does add an edge of extra steering feel and throttle response to the package but nothing that feels out of character. Even though the 295bhp 3.5-liter V6 is smooth and swift, the 450h packs a noticeably bigger punch thanks to its electric and gas powered motors.
