Prodrive WaterCar Panther review
Buying
What should I be paying?
As the Prodrive-modded Panther is the only one that’s officially in Europe, it’s tricky to say. Certainly got rarity on its side.
Prodrive planned to sell this particular example for £165,000. That sort of money buys a Bentley Bentayga, which is also ugly, stupidly fast, and handy on several types of terrain. Could be a tricky decision.
Anything else that'll give me a sinking feeling?
Servicing costs are likely to be steep, not least because Kwik-Fit aren’t well-versed in boats. But the Honda engine should weather like Stonehenge and there’s very little garnish to go wrong. Electric seats? Parking camera? Not here.
It’ll do some miles per gallon, and CO2 emissions are plenty. It’s got a 25-gallon fuel tank, so you needn’t worry about range anxiety either on the open road or the high seas.
