Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices start from £18,495, which gets you into the entry-level SE trim. Another £2k sees you into top-spec Trophy trim. And that’s your lot.
On lease, you’re looking at £229 and £249 respectively, on a four-year agreement with a £2.5k down payment and 8,000 yearly mileage allowance, through MG’s own finance scheme.
The MG 3 undercuts pretty much all of its rivals, even though it’s not quite as cheap as it once was.
What's the spec like?
Standard kit includes 16in alloy wheels, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment display with built-in satnav and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a reversing camera.
Trophy spec adds a LED projector headlights, heated front seats and steering wheel, leather-style upholstery, 360-degree camera with rear parking sensors, keyless entry and privacy glass.
Both trim levels also get MG’s Pilot safety tech, which includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Traffic Jam Assist.
Oh, and your colour options include white, black, two shades of grey, blue and red. Go for either of the last two if you want to avoid losing it in the supermarket car park. Likely among a sea of SUVs.
How would you spec it?
Part of the joy of the MG 3 is in its simplicity. For that reason, we’d stick with the entry-level SE trim, which offers enough kit as standard to keep you mostly happy. That, and the fact it keeps the price well under £20k.
Oh, and to seal the deal, MG’s trademark seven-year/80,000 miles warranty is included as standard. Should help you sleep easier at night.
