Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices currently start at just over £24,000. There's only one trim level: the 'Ceed 3' (meaning 1 and 2 have been ditched for now, presumably) which comes replete with cruise control with dual-zone air conditioning, electric windows all-round, auto headlights and wipers plus foglights, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, 17-inch rims, tinted glass and the 10.25-inch touchscreen. Seats are cloth with faux leather bolsters.
For £840 you can upgrade to a 'GT-line' spec which adds a body kit and fiddlier-looking wheels. We'd go standard - it's not as if you can actually get a Ceed GT warm hatch any more to ape the look of...
What will my running costs be like?
Our Ceed 1.5 managed to average over 50mpg on several journeys, whether tasked with wading through urban traffic or hurrying along a motorway. We saw a high of 56.3mpg against a claim of 49.6mpg, so we'd wager matching the official claim is possible here, which helps now there's no diesel.
As with every other Kia, the new Ceed comes with a seven-year warranty. Kia Care is also available, which is a series of service plans so that you have a bit more certainty about your costs going forwards. Kia has also added a new seventh service to the package, so you can cover the services for the length of the warranty.
