Buying
What should I be paying?
There are four trims to choose from: Limited, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit Reserve. All models are 4x4 PHEV, so bear that in mind when comparing with rivals that open their bidding with pure-combustion versions.
Limited kicks things off at £69,915 OTR. It has no glaring omissions: 20in wheels, LED lights, a powered tailgate, heated and ventilated front seats (finished in vinyl), a digital rearview mirror, digital display and touchscreen, wireless phone charging, that Alpine sound system (not this Alpine, FYI) and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system for fine-tuning off-road performance.
Trailhawk costs £73,915, and adds all terrain tyres (on 18s), skid plates, an electronic limited slip differential at the rear, the air suspension, off-road cameras (good for spotting hazards) and hill descent control. Oh, and let’s not forget the disconnecting front anti-roll bar (by dash button, not a wrench) for added traction. Get this one if you’re even semi-serious about actually going off-road.
Overland spec is £75,915 and takes a different tack to the entry trim, throwing in another batch of convenience kit (including that McIntosh sound system, HUD and the air suspension) plus much leather and a sunroof.
The top one is Summit Reserve at £85,615. Jeep is optimistic it will be the bulk of UK sales (all circa 300 of them annually). That spec brings full driver assist, night vision, four-zone climate, 16-way electric seats with massage, the superfluous passenger display and wood interior inserts.
Jeep also offers a number of packs to add in some of the goodies without forcing you to jump up massively in spec.
The company is pretty good at looking after its buyers by supporting club off-road meets, so you'll have a guided intro into that world if you're new to it.
Warranty is three years, with a paid option to go another three. But you have to sign up for that extension in the first fortnight of the car's life.
