GMC Yukon review
Interior
What is it like on the inside?
The Yukon’s interior is busy but quite handsomely appointed, with chunky, solid-looking elements, chrome accents, and bold-stitched upholstery that does a lot to elevate the presentation. There’s 122.8cu ft of cargo room which is great if you’re cargo, but still quite nice if you’re people, particularly in the Denali trim.
Up front in the Denali Ultimate are 16-way powered heated and massaging seats while the second row can be fitted with its own luxury experience by way of some pretty swanky captain’s chairs in lieu of the standard bench.
How about the tech?
Behind the steering wheel is an 11in digital display with standard info while a 16.8in touchscreen is the focal point for the rest of the cabin. For the basic ‘tablet’ style layout, it’s well-integrated and easy to navigate, with a mix of physical buttons supporting it while the ‘apps’ are laid out in a familiar style and practically applied.
Denalis get a Bose sound system with 22 speakers, including ones integrated in the front row head restraints. There’s also optional seat-back entertainment screens available for those executives you’re hauling around.
How is it on safety?
Pedestrians and cyclists will be happy to hear the Yukon has brake assist specifically to watch out for them. There's also cross-traffic alert and auto braking for other hazards. Night vision tech is available, which handily displays anything with a heat signature on the digital display, so people, animals or really hot rocks pop up if headlights can’t cut through the darkness or fog well enough.
