Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices start at £35,495, and climb all the way to £44,625 for the VZ version. If you've any interest in having fun on the road, you have to get that one: we found a finance provider offering it for just under £400 per month over three years, off the back of a £7k deposit. Shop around and you might do even better.
V1 is the Born's entry trim, and as standard you get 19in wheels, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, the 12in touchscreen and 5.3in digital instrument cluster, a seven-speaker audio system, wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, keyless go, and a bunch of active safety systems.
V2 adds tinted rear windows (more menacing, innit?), heated front seats and an HUD; yours for £37,265. V3 chips in 20s, and 12-way adjustable seats which are finished in that Dinamica stuff we mentioned earlier. That one starts from £39,015.
We say 'starts from' because it's here that you get the option of the 79kWh battery, which is almost three grand dearer at £41,795.
The VZ can only be had with the bigger battery, and as well as boosting power you get some VZ badging (obvs), a Sennheiser sound system, bucket seats and the (otherwise optional) DCC suspension.
For a limited time you can also fork out £47,165 for the VZ First Edition, which lobs in a panoramic sunroof, some cameras and a heat pump (a £970 option on the other trims) for extra efficiency.
