Buying

What should I be paying?

There are three trim levels – C-Series, Shine and Shine Plus. All give you alloy wheels, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, a touchscreen with phone mirroring, lane departure warning, cruise control, and traffic sign recognition.

Prices start at £17,320 for the entry level C-Series model, which is only available with the petrol engine and manual gearbox. Citroen introduced this trim to appeal to online buyers in its new shop – go direct and the company will do you one of these for £265 a month on a four-year PCP with no deposit whatsoever. This spec doesn’t offer any of the fancy personalisation options, but if you just need a car it’s a compelling proposition.

For £2,570 over and above C-Series, Shine adds better interior and exterior trim, the split-level boot floor, bigger touchscreen and a couple of crucial active safety systems. Lease one of these and you can expect to pay around £300 a month.

Meanwhile, another £1,600 gets you a Shine Plus and bigger alloys, front parking sensors, the squidgy seats, a rearview camera, keyless entry/go, the flat-folding front passenger seat and split-folding rear seats. Over three quarters of C3 Aircross buyers go for the top trim, and we’d recommend you do too.

You can go to a dealer and buy as normal, or do it through Citroen’s online store, which still lets you buy on finance and sort a trade-in, plus they throw in an extra two years on the warranty to take you to five.
