Buying

What should I be paying?

We won’t have PCP pricing until the first Q4 Sportbacks arrive in the UK in September, but cash money you’re looking at from £42,825 for a 35 Sport up to over £60,000 for a fully-loaded 50 Vorsprung or Edition 1. That’s £1,500 more on average than the Q4 SUV, so your monthly payments ought to be pretty similar.

From launch there are four trim levels to choose from, and each one can be paired with the 35, 40 or 50 powertrain. Entry-level ‘Sport’ Q4s come with pretty much everything you need. S-Line, which is likely to prove the most popular spec in the UK, comes next and buys you bigger wheels, sports suspension and some schporty-looking interior and exterior trim.

Then comes Edition 1, which will no doubt be phased out soon after launch. It gives you matrix LED lights, electric sports seats in leather and a smattering of cosmetic bits. Vorsprung is the top trim. It’s expensive but with good reason – there is literally no piece of equipment it doesn’t get.

The Comfort & Sound, Technology and Safety Plus packs are worth thinking about. The optional heat pump, which improves efficiency in colder conditions, could prove worth its £950 price too.
